Søren Carlsen, PhD
Vice-Chairman of the board
Søren Carlsen is Managing Partner at Novo Ventures, which he participated in establishing in 2000. He joined Novo Nordisk A/S as research scientist in 1979 and in the following two decades held various senior positions, lately Head of Novo Nordisk Enzyme Research as Corporate Vice President and CSO. In this function he headed 400 scientists in Denmark, USA and Japan. He serves on the board of a number of Biotech companies and is chairman of the Association of Biotechnology Industries in Denmark. He was awarded the Danish Chemistry Prize in 1988.
