Jean Deleage, MS, PhD

Jean Deleage, a founder of Alta Partners and pioneer in the VC industry, began his venture capital career in 1971 with Sofinnova Ventures, a French VC firm, and formed Burr, Egan, Deleage & Co. with Craig Burr and William Egan in 1979. Jean Deleage is or has served on the board of numerous companies and has been Director of the Western Association of Venture Capitalists. He holds a Masters Degree in Engineering and a PhD in Economics from the Sorbonne. In 1993, he was awarded the Legion of Honor by the French government in recognition of his career accomplishments.
